Unforgettable outdoor experiences for young people
We recognise that Residential experiences for key stage 2 children are often the first time staying away from home and can be a mix of excitement and trepidation. Our staff team ensure both staff and children are warmly welcomed and looked after, setting a foundation of good hospitality as the basis for a positive time.
We believe that the residential experience itself is as important as the individual activities we offer and so focus on offering wholesome food and a comfortable nights sleep. Our coordinators are with you throughout the week to support the teachers and ensure that your group has the best time possible.
Tailor the perfect programme for your group
Our residentials are tailored to your programme aims and requirements, ensuring we achieve the right balance, level of activity and challenge for your group.
The residential experience offers children an environment to build independence and resilience, while experiencing new activities with friends can develop confidence and interpersonal skills. Whatever the specific aims you wish to achieve for your group we will work with you to design the ideal programme.
We run our activities out in the landscape to immerse children in nature
This means we need to be flexible with our programmes taking into account weather conditions and tides. We believe that connecting children to the natural environment whilst participating in activities leads to a richer experience, aiming to develop within them a lifelong desire to enjoy, engage with and protect natural environments and the flora and fauna within them.
During a residential stay, young people will be introduced to the Leave No Trace principles and Countryside Code along with interesting facts and information about the landscape they are operating within. Creating a greater understanding and respect for the places we visit and enjoy.
Building close connections with you and your group
We understand the challenge of bringing a group of children away and want to make your stay with us as easy as possible.
Each group has a course coordinator who will be with you for the duration of your stay, making sure that the programme is working smoothly and acting as a point of contact for anything you need.
In addition there is a duty instructor on call overnight and of course a friendly face in reception during the day.
Tea, coffee and a comfy place to rest will always be available to you. The centre is a short drive away from local towns and amenities, far enough to feel remote yet close enough for teachers to pop out for something if need be.
We aim to keep the instructors the same all week building close connections with you and your group.
Experienced & pragmatic
The team at Brenscombe have experience with supporting children with additional needs and disabilities onto our programmes and for designing programmes that can be inclusive. We are not a specialist SEND provider but have an experienced and pragmatic approach, working in partnership with visiting staff to support a wide range of children. Early conversations are essential to ensure supported and integrated programmes.

Feel welcomed & looked after
We are more than great activities. We also provide good food, comfortable beds, indoor group meeting rooms and outside space for letting off a bit more steam. This is all part and parcel of the Brenscombe experience.
We know that for the children the experience is as much about the activities as it is about communal living with friends so it’s important to us that the food and facilities underpin the whole programme.
Sleep inside or out
Our overnight indoor accommodation is spread between our traditional stone farmhouse and four other converted farm buildings of varying capacities, all with attractive, warm and comfortable bedrooms. Rooms generally sleep between 3 and 6 young people with a few larger rooms available.
A fully catered camping option for up to 60 people is available using our canvas tipis. Our camping group barn provides a large undercover shelter for the whole group to gather and to use as their dining space.
For a truly unforgettable experience, talk to us about camping at our private waterside spit of land at Cleavel Point.
